East meets West on May 2, 2013 when George Mason University hosts their annual Asia Pacific American Heritage Month event. Join us to celebrate the cultural diversity and unique traditions of Asian Pacific Americans, presented through music, dance, and martial arts performances. Nepali Folk Dance Performance @ Bloombars in Washington, D.C.

Tasherit Sturm Dahal will be performing for the Network of South Asian Professionals in DC at Bloombars this Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 8 P.M. She will demonstrate Nepali folk dance and offer an interactive mini-workshop for all attendees. Further details may be found at NetSAP.

Second Semester Begins at India School

The second semester at India School in Bethesda, MD begins tomorrow, January 27, 2013. Classes will include Kathak, Bollywood, and folk dance, and will be held at Thomas Pyle Middle School. Kathak begins promptly at 10:00, followed by children’s Bollywood and folk at 11:20, and adult Bollywood at 12:20. We hope to see everyone there!

Winter Semester at India School

Classes in Kathak and Bollywood at India School in Bethesda will start on January 27 and run through May. For new students, please go to India School to register. Returning students will remain in their scheduled classes and begin new material. Evaluations were given at the last class on December 16, along with practice material to be completed over the holidays.

NDS and Fashion for the Cure in DC

This Saturday Tasherit Sturm Dahal will be performing as a guest artist for “Pink Passion in the City,” the annual Fashion for the Cure event at Lounge 201 in Washington D.C. The program includes both Kathak and Bollywood dances and runs from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 6. Tickets can be purchased online. We hope you will join us for this very worthwhile event to support breast cancer research.

Bollywood Performance and Workshop at the Smithsonian

As part of India Family Day, NDS will be presenting two Bollywood performances, followed by workshops, at the Smithsonian on August 11, 2012. Senior dancer, Tasherit Sturm Dahal, will be demonstrating some classic Bollywood dances, with Bhim Dahal conducting a short workshop for all ages and levels.

Come join us on the steps of the Freer Gallery at both 10 A.M. and 4 P.M. for this wonderful (free!) event.

Workhouse Arts Center: Destination Bollywood

Nepal Dance School invites you to attend the Youth Arts Celebration at the Workhouse in Lorton, VA on May 19, where we will be presenting a free Bollywood program from 4:30-5:00, followed by the opportunity to purchase Himalayan handicrafts from NDS. We’d like to thank NDS dancer Tasherit Sturm Dahal and our advanced Bollywood class from India school in Bethesda for their wonderful performances at the Heritage India Festival at Dulles Expo Center on May 12, 2012. Ms. Dahal presented a Kathak tarana, which received rave reviews, while the Bollywood group did an exciting medley of popular hits.
